….it just might exist

Think for a second: If someone were ask you the question, Who are you, where would you start to answer that? Would you talk about your love of music? Your dream of becoming a fashion designer, a doctor, a teacher!? We are complicated! There are a seemingly infinite number of parts to our identity; it is not an easy question to answer. There are so many ways to go about explaining who we are as individuals.

So, for your first blogging assignment in this class, I want you to simplify that Who are you question by focusing on your cultural identity (i.e. how your place of upbringing, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, and family dynamics among other factors created your identity as a person).

This post should be no fewer than 250 words (two large paragraphs), and be expressed however you choose. That is going to be difficult for some of you. Remember, your blog is not an academic environment…it is a human one….so do not approach blogging prompts as essay questions. Yes, your writing needs structure and proper grammar and punctuation, but most importantly it needs your voice (i.e. the expression of your uniqueness on the page). That means approaching the prompt as a person, not as a student looking for the “right” answer.

Refer to my “Me” post as an example.
