Identify a special place in nature where you have enjoyed spending your time. This may be somewhere you go to often or it may be a place you have visited only once. Give a brief description of this place, but devote most of your response to explaining why this place stands out in your memory. Consider your thoughts, emotions, and mood in this place.
Lastly, agree or argue Henry David Thoreau’s below statement about man’s necessary connection to nature (i.e. “We need the tonic of wildness…At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”). Does nature hold the same power for you as it did for Thoreau? Or is it simply another dimension of reality which, maybe, you indifferently live beside?
